MK Lit Fest

Welcome to Milton Keynes Lit Fest, set up in 2017 to promote and celebrate all things literary, bookish or wordy.

The Lit Fest Steering Group brings together arts and education professionals and enthusiasts who share a love of books, words, writing, speaking and thinking. We are a small team with big ambitions, and we are especially grateful to our wonderful volunteers who help us get the show on the road.

After a triumphant debut in 2017 – with Lynton Kwesi Johnson, Michael Rosen and much more – we returned in 2018 with an even more ambitious programme, working with new Festival partners and venues to bring a cornucopia of the finest contemporary writing to the city. Highlights included Hollie McNish, Mark Haddon and Lemn Sissay.

For MK Lit Fest 2019, we partnered with MK Gallery and other local organisations and groups, to bring an enhanced programme of workshops alongside performers including Paul Mason, Attila the Stockbroker, Carrie Gracie, Dan Cruickshank and Lissa Evans as well as a wealth of rising talent across the literary arts.

Despite the setbacks of COVID-19 in 2020, MK Lit Fest was quickly re-imagined as a series of online Zoom events to bring writers, words, books and ideas in digital form to new audiences on an international scale. You can find out about the full program of events here.

So put down your book, uncuddle your Kindle and join us for the next annual MK Lit Fest.
